Here is a picture from the other side. This is the top of the rail, which is a 1” square tube. A wood cap will be installed ontop of this. The posts are 2-1/2”x3/8” mild steel that have been cut to a top point of 1”. I then put them in the forge, hammered texture them and hammered the bottom to an arch to accept the half domes. The balusters are 3/8” diameter rod. The ends are 1”x3/8” flat stock bent into a u shape.
My wife and I have been building a custom home we have designed here in Bozeman, MT. It has been a huge time suck, what with managing and doing work as well. Here is a photo of a custom stair railing I designed and am making. Just need to weld it up, finish and install.
